Fact: Exercise makes you more productive

Date: Dec 04, 2023    By: Genesis Fitness

It's no secret that there's no better feeling than working out, thanks to a little thing we like to call "endorphins," but did you know the experience isn't only enjoyable? It can also be harnessed to help you in multiple aspects of your life.

In this blog, we'll be sharing the top four exercises to help you get your productivity on – just in time for Christmas!

1. Walking

Tis the season to be jolly AND incredibly busy. So, whether you're making Christmas lunch preparations, meeting work deadlines or pressie shopping for loved ones, there's no shame in taking a break from the chaos to enjoy one of life's simplest pleasures — a good walk.

It's not only a great way to change up your routine, but it has also been shown to increase productivity by promoting blood flow, increasing oxygen intake, and elevating energy levels, which can directly improve your concentration and alertness. Now, you're probably thinking time is of the essence, but so is prioritising your health. Plus, knowing that a break will improve your output is a bonus!

Shopping for camping supplies? Opt for the stairs instead of the elevator at the shops. Finishing a project at work? Grab your lunch on the go and stretch your legs on your lunch break for a quick (and delicious) productivity boost.

2. Strength Training Exercises

If you're not into the "s," word this style of exercise may be a turn-off, but we're here to remind you that strength exercises can include anything from lifting weights to cycling or heavy gardening. Have a busy workday ahead? Try waking up early to catch some rays and pick a few weeds. The pure satisfaction (and exercise) you'll get from being in the garden will set you up for success. Alternatively, you can debrief after a busy day with the buzz of a Cycle class to put the icing on the (Christmas) cake. Similarly, to walking, strength training exercises help you improve your productivity by increasing blood flow to the brain and sharpening your awareness.

3. Reformer Pilates Classes

There's nothing a little stretching can't improve. That's why Reformer Pilates is one of our go-to ways to relax and move our bodies in the comfort of a safe and supportive environment. Reformer Pilates features a series of low-impact, dynamic style movements that are designed to promote focus and awareness by creating harmony between the mind and body. Want to pre-decompress before the joy of Christmas lunch? Lock in a time to gather your thoughts, stretch your back and ground your present and future self for whatever the silly season has to offer.

4. Yoga

Productivity and Yoga go hand in hand for a number of reasons, but we highly suggest embracing its benefits for any creative-oriented jobs you have coming up in the next couple of weeks. We're talking anything and everything from making Christmas cards to decorating cupcakes or writing a cheeky out of office. Yoga increases your awareness of your surroundings, which allows you to concentrate better on the task(s) at hand.

If your Christmas list starts to get the better of you, simply whip out this blog and you'll be feeling more productive in no time.
