Sometimes we all need that extra bit of motivation. What better way to get in the right mindset than by sticking on a film for a burst of inspiration? These stories all motivate and inspire in their own way, whether it's through telling an underdog story like Rocky, or just showing fantastic physiques like in 300.

Rocky (1976)

A classic of fitness motivation where a small-time boxer rises to the challenge of fighting a heavyweight champion. On his journey he teaches us about hard work, endurance against the odds and how going the distance is about self-respect. This also houses some of the BEST soundtracks you are going to hear – get those gloves on and let’s go!

Million Dollar Baby (2004)

A conflicting tale about a woman from a humble background who strives to become a professional boxer against the odds. Oscar winning performances show how sport can form and break bonds in a bittersweet tale of success and loss.

Any Given Sunday (1999)

A behind the scenes sports drama depicting the real life gladiators of the American football arena. More focused on the team work, mentality, hard work and discipline this movies offers one of the greatest speeches of all time made by none other than Al Pacino. A game changer for your motivation.

Pumping Iron (1977)

This documentary made Arnold Schwarzenegger and Lou Ferrigno household names as bodybuilders. Set against the backdrop of muscle beach during the golden era of bodybuilding, it covers the dedication and camaraderie of legends as they get ready for competition, showing their routines and sacrifices. Great for motivation as well as some workout ideas!

The Karate Kid (1984)

A tale of student and master that defined a genre. Daniel moves to California to quickly find he doesn't fit in, getting bullied as a result. After being rescued from a fight by Mr Miyagi, Daniel begins to learn karate as Miyagi's student. At first, Daniel doesn't understand the training but eventually learns that Mr Miyagi is teaching him more than just how to defend himself. An absolute classic.

Ali (2001)

The biography of champion boxer Muhammad Ali, following his life, career and controversies. His proud self-confidence, skill and charisma created a new image for his entire sport and wrote his name in the history books as a legend. This story defines the man both inside and outside the ring and will inspire you to make a difference

300 (2006)

A fantastical telling of the battle of Thermopylae, where 300 Spartans held off against the invading hordes of Persian emperor Xerxes with his army of over 100,000. Using skill and strategy, the Spartans held until they were betrayed, but their brave stand helped change the overall course of the war. An unabashed display of machismo and physiques portrays one of the best historical tales.

These are seven great movies with a theme of fitness, and each of them get a solid recommendation. Just remember you don't have to watch them all at once!
