Date: Mar 02, 2017    By: Genesis Fitness

Need a new fitness activity to stay fit, healthy and motivated? Take your pick from our selection of five activities and tick a challenge or two off your bucket list.

1. 1. Run a triathlon

Comprised of swimming, cycling and running, triathlons require a great amount of training and dedication – and are on the bucket list of many people looking for a challenge to get fit and boost confidence.

Start by slowly incorporating these three different exercises in your regular training routine, and build up your strength with a selection of resistance based activities.

2. 2. Take on an obstacle course

Obstacle courses combine a variety of exercises, and if you’re serious about making good time, you need a workout regimen that incorporates elements of both strength and endurance. Crawling, pushing, pulling, running and climbing are all staples that tend to be in every obstacle race in some form or another, so make sure you’re training with the correct exercises to prepare yourself for the challenge ahead. Our personal trainers can plan a program to suit your needs.

3. 3. Climb a mountain or take a hike

Hiking exercises almost every part of your body, gives you a mental escape and reinvigorates the soul. Take your hike one step further, pick out a mountain and challenge yourself to embark on a mission to the summit – partner with a friend, bring provisions and be sure to stay hydrated.

4. 4. Learn to surf

Make this top of your bucket list for a great summer activity, and enjoy rising with the sun and challenging yourself to find the perfect wave. Learning to surf offers you a range of health benefits, including cardiovascular fitness, shoulder and back strength, and leg and core strength.

Learning to surf is not as easy as it looks, so a few beginner lessons may be in order.

5. 5. Outdoor rock climb

Outdoor rock climbing offers a completely different dynamic to the safety mats and moulded wall-mounted grips of your usual indoor go-to. A versatile, physically and mentally demanding sport, outdoor rock climbing tests your endurance, agility and strength, and requires you to gain knowledge of proper climbing techniques and equipment. Put this activity on your bucket list to challenge yourself, build up your strength and enjoy an array of breathtaking sights.

Not sure how to do this? It is advisable to rock climb with experts and follow a tour. Rock climbing guides can be found locally.
