One of the most common New Year's resolutions is to lose weight and become healthier. Rather than expect to lose 15kgs in the first month and be disappointed when you don’t, you should set healthy weight loss goals that won’t make you feel defeated.
Aim for a Kilo a Week
Losing one kilogram a week is very doable as long as you increase the amount of exercise you are doing and modifying your diet appropriately. In fact, if you do both of these things correctly, you can lose more than 1kg and be pleasantly surprised.
Weigh Yourself Once a Week
Only weigh yourself once a week and always on the same day first thing in the morning. If you weigh yourself more than that, you are going to drive yourself crazy as your weight can fluctuate from one day to the next.
Get Your Diet on Point
Diet is everything. And if you want to lose weight, you should make a complete lifestyle change to your diet instead of one of those quick two-week diets that say they can help you lose weight quickly. If you don’t change your eating patterns entirely for the rest of your life, then you are just going to fall back into the pattern of eating unhealthy once again.
Use a Tape Measure
Don’t
be disappointed if you don’t reach your weekly goal every single time. You may
still be losing fat, but you could also be gaining muscle. One way to show your
improvements is to measure your centimetres lost along with your weekly
weigh-ins. The tape measure won’t lie as your waist size shrinks slowly every
single week.
