How Reformer Pilates can benefit your Strength Training

Date: May 27, 2024    By: Genesis Fitness

We'll be the first to admit that we're *huge* fans of Strength Training, but that doesn't mean we don't enjoy broadening our horizons with Group Fitness, Coaching Zone and one of our personal favourites - Reformer Pilates. One little-known fact about Reformer Pilates is that it's a great complement to a strength-based workout routine. So, we've listed three reasons why YOU should consider jumping on one of our bed(s):

Flexibility and Mobility

Reformer Pilates offers resistance and assistance through adjustable springs and straps. This unique setup allows targeted muscle engagement to encourage lengthening and contraction while promoting controlled stretching movements. Combining this with Strength Training is a great way to enhance overall flexibility and expand your range of motion.

Enhanced Muscular Endurance

We'd like you to imagine effortlessly powering through day-to-day tasks with incredible stamina— all thanks to holding a pose in our Reformer Pilates classes. Adding a class to your Strength Training routine can help you increase your performance in and out of the gym. Plus, it's a great way to enhance your endurance, especially when it comes to building strength.

Psychological Benefits

There are many psychological benefits of adding Reformer Pilates to your Strength Training. One of our favourites is that it can improve your mental focus and mindfulness. This can also help you maintain your focus on the gym floor (and beyond). We can all have days when the thought of exercising feels like running on an inclined treadmill. So, another benefit of improving your mental power is to help you reach your long-term goals. Variety is the spice of life, so engaging Reformer Pilates can also benefit you by mixing it up. Plus, we can't forget about the incredible Reformer Pilates community whose friendship can be harnessed to help you crush your strength goals.
