Hey febfasters - can you feel it?

Date: Feb 11, 2021    By: Genesis Fitness

This week, you can feel it can’t you? Your body is beginning to respond and it’s starting to thank you for what you’re doing by giving you more energy, better quality sleep and that feel-good vibe. Your skin may even have a healthier glow. It’s no surprise, as there’s a lot going on in your body right now and it’s mostly positive.

There may be a few cravings starting to set in especially around certain emotional or habitual triggers (and it probably doesn’t help that it’s Pancake Tuesday next week). Yes, temptation is all around and it’s completely natural for your brain to start sending intense messages demanding those cheats and treats it is used to.

Recognising what has set the craving off is the first step to avoiding and eliminating them. Stay strong, remember you’re approaching the halfway point and use some of these ideas to help you focus your attention elsewhere and harness your new energy to create even more positive change:

  • Review your three goals. Last week we suggested you write down three things you really want to get out of febfast this year and stick them front and centre on the fridge. You’re actually thinking a lot clearer this week now you’ve settled into the challenge, so it’s time to review those three goals. Make sure they accurately capture what you’re thinking and feeling and get out the red pen if you need to make some changes.
  • It’s time to ramp up the activity level. If you really want to use febfast to make a change, it’s time to use your newfound motivation and put it to good use by getting a little more active. As a simple start, take whatever you did last week (a walk, a swim, some deep breathing etc) and try to do it twice this week. It’s also a great opportunity to try something new – a new class, a new outdoor adventure, a new gym. Dust off the bucket list from the back of your side-table draw and review it for inspiration. You don’t have to make any hard commitments yet. But do test the waters, dip your toe in and see what takes your fancy. 2021 is not about doing the same old thing, that’s for sure! It’s about discovering something better…something that’s truly you and reflects your shift in thinking after 2020.
  • Don’t get too excited. Just be careful – this new burst of positivity and energy can cause you to throw yourself a little harder into your diet and/or exercise. It’s great to be excited, but just remember your plan and take it one step at a time. There is a risk of over-doing this week – and this can result in you quickly draining your newfound mojo and possibly injuring yourself.

And remember, if you’re not feeling the vibe this week, that’s ok too. We all adjust to changes at different rates. Don’t be hard on yourself. Review our tips from last week if you need some ideas to get you through and hang in there! You’re doing great and supporting a great cause, so keep it up.

We’d also love to see how you’re tracking and what you’re up to, so if you’re posting to social please tag us in on Instagram and Facebook.

Good luck for next week and stay tuned for more tips.
