When it doesn’t feel like there’s enough hours
in the day and you have a massive list of things to do, it can be easy to
retreat and procrastinate. It’s not a coincidence that the most successful
people in the world follow similar daily habits as one another. These
individuals are focused and productive and get what they need to do done. You
too can develop and implement daily habits that will improve your work ethic
and optimize your time.
1. Wake up early
This may seem obvious, but if you wake up early,
you’ll get a lot more done. A 5 or 6 am start can provide several extra
uninterrupted hours, and this type of time is like gold dust.
2. Create a to-do list
Write down tasks that you need to get done. Work
through the list methodically and tick each item off as it’s completed. There’s
something really satisfying about crossing your way through a list, and by
having your tasks set out, you have a clear agenda that you can focus on and
can eliminate the possibility of distractions. A tip: work on the bigger and
more significant tasks first.
3. Cut out the distractions
Social media, emails, texts and television are
all distractions. There’s a time and place for everything, and by really
knuckling down and focusing on the task at hand you’ll get a lot more done in a
short space of time. You’d be surprised at just how much time you waste
checking your Instagram feed.
4. Take regular breaks
Continuous work can be monotonous and can reduce
productivity. Taking time out is just as important as the work itself, and by
affording yourself time to take a breather to refuel and recharge, you’ll find
that you’ll work much more efficiently. Work smarter not harder, use your time
wisely and know when it’s time to take a moment to yourself.
