Want to stay on top of the latest trends in
the fitness world? Here are three that we see becoming even bigger in the
second half of 2018.
Wearable
tech: We have Fitbit, Apple watches, heart rate
monitors, etc. Wearable technology and data-driven fitness plans are growing as
the technology becomes better, smaller, and cheaper. Instead of guessing on
your workout plan, you can track exactly how many steps you take, what your
heart rate is, and many other variables to make data-informed decisions. This
trend will continue to grow over the coming years.
Strength
training: Every year strength training becomes more
mainstream. Over the last few years, strength training has moved from just
being the domain of body builders to being recognised as the number one way to
lose body fat, improve health markers, and even hold off the effects of aging.
There is more education around strength
training, a much bigger level of exposure through Instagram and other channels,
and going into the gym - the weights area is getting busier and busier.
Group
fitness: Group fitness has been growing with a lot
of personal training gyms moving to a group model. People are realising that
working out doesn’t have to be a lonely and boring journey. It’s something that
can be sociable, fun and can be shared with friends.
Expect to see even more growth in group fitness classes in 2018 and beyond.
