Mindset has become a popular topic of late, and it’s important to look at how to apply the concepts of mindset to help you achieve your fitness goals.
The right mindset will keep you motivated, committed and on track to achieve your goals. Meanwhile, a poor mindset can leave you disheartened, bored, and stuck not meeting your goals.
Here are some tips for improving your mindset:
• Recognise fitness is a life long journey – nothing you do this week, or this month, is going to make or break you. That means you have plenty of time to achieve your goals. Don’t get disheartened if it seems a long way off. You have the rest of your life to get to where you want to be.
• Find solutions, not problems – how you perceive things goes a long way to how successful you will be. Two identical people can be in identical situations and get very different outcomes, depending on how they frame things.
Rather than looking for reasons you cannot do something, instead look for solutions to problems and a way for you to win, regardless of what life throws up.
• Have a big reason WHY – What is your effort in getting fit for? It’s great to want to be in better shape, or to workout for the joy of working out; but those with a big driver outside of themselves will really succeed.
Maybe you want to set a great example for your kids and practice what you preach, or you’ve had a health scare and realised what is important in life.
No matter the reason, a powerful reason why you want to get fit will help keep you motivated and committed when things get difficult.
