How To: Prepare for The Coaching Zone Games

Date: Aug 13, 2024    By: Genesis Fitness

The Coaching Zone Games are just around the corner, so there’s no better time to start gearing up for the final workout. We know you want to give it your all, so we’ve outlined some easy ways to help you ensure you’re at the top of your game on Saturday, September 14.

1) Prioritise sleep

We highly recommend prioritising sleep in the lead-up to The Coaching Zone Games. We’re talking allowing your body the time it needs to recover and re-energise. A simple way to do is this is by creating a routine and sticking to it. This can be anything from reading a book to enjoying a chamomile tea before getting into bed at a reasonable hour – the options are endless.

2) Fuel for success

Eating regularly is a great way to keep your energy levels up. We also recommend staying hydrated, and not just on Saturday, September 14. There’s a huge list of reasons to get your (consistent) hydration on, including:

  • Improved brain performance
  • Digestive harmony
  • More energy (did somebody say, “The Coaching Zone Games!”)
  • Weight loss and weight management.
  • Decreased joint pain.
  • Better temperature regulation

3) Rest up

Remember to rest, and we don’t just mean sleep. Make sure you allow yourself some downtime to relax and recuperate before The Coaching Zone Games. How you choose this is entirely up to you, but we suggest doing something like listening to a podcast or going for a stroll.

4) Reduce the intensity of your sessions by at least 20%

The week before The Coaching Zone Games isn't about hitting your PBs. It's about keeping your body active but not overloading it. You can do this by ensuring you're not overtraining. We recommend attending a maximum of three sessions in the week before the final workout. We want you to stay fresh and energised, so you're ready to smash The Coaching Zone Games AND enjoy them.

5) Jump into your Recovery session

Your Zone will be running an active recovery session the week before The Coaching Zone Games. We recommend jumping into this and trying something new to help you post-The 28 Day Challenge.

6) Focus on deep breathing

Feeling excited about what’s to come on Saturday, September 14? That makes two of us, so there’s no better time to practice mindfulness with the art of deep breathing. There are SO many benefits to breathing as deeply as you can, including:

  • Relaxation
  • Improved muscle function during exercises
  • Increased oxygen is in your blood
  • Reduced blood pressure

We hope you feel more prepared than ever to get out there and give The Coaching Zone Games your all. We’ll see you on Saturday, September 14.
