They're so small and simple, you'll hardly even notice them.
"A lot of us are feeling exhausted from this year. It's been a busy one, getting back into the swing of things after lockdowns, and it has required a lot of physical and mental energy," qualified PT and National Fitness Manager at Genesis Health & Fitness, Sam Merza, tells 9Honey Coach.
"If you want to chill out these holidays without your fitness completely falling apart, you absolutely can. Take the pressure off but stay a little mindful and you'll give your body the rest and nourishment it needs on all levels."
First step is to give power to your pillow!
Go to bed half an hour earlier than you usually do as many nights as you can (and don't take your phone). Sure, you may want to party or stay up late watching Love Actually on some nights. But, when you can, hit the sack a little earlier than usual so you can get up and go in the morning and start the day winning.
It's better than trying to get extra zzz's in the morning, sleeping in and feeling drowsy for the rest of the day. Why? Going to sleep before midnight matters – it can make a huge difference to your quality of sleep and overall health. Our internal biological clock, or circadian rhythm, sends signals to our brain that it's time for sleep once the sun goes down. The longer you push out your bedtime, the more you disrupt your natural sleep cycle and body processes.
