Winter. It’s a beautiful time for a range of reasons that can be hard to list, especially when the weather is less than warm, and the days just aren’t quite as long as they used to be. So, with all that in mind, we’ve compiled some of our top tips to help you stay active during the cooler months.
1) Do what you enjoy
This is a no brainer. We know sometimes it can be hard to find the motivation to exercise, so we suggest making the process easier by choosing exercises you like. This can be anything from hitting the treadmill to getting your Coaching Zone on. Removing the barriers preventing you from finding the motivation to move is a simple and easy way to stay active. Doing something you love will be less of a task and more enjoyable. Another bonus of doing what you enjoy is that it’s a really healthy version of me time.
We recommend setting aside time daily and not overcommitting. Two to three times a week is perfect, and anything more is a bonus. Next, we recommend planning out what you’re going to do. Love pull ups? Or Boxing? Have a plan of attack in mind for when you dedicate time to yourself. Plus, don’t forget to have a goal and timeframe you’d like to achieve so you can leave feeling satisfied.
2) Join a community or train with a gym buddy
If you’re unsure what to do, we suggest trying something different. Training with other people is an excellent way to stay motivated. Plus, it keeps your workout fun. Our Coaching Zone studio is a great place to meet new people and crush your goals in 45-minute group personal training sessions designed to help you beat your personal best, time and time again. Or you can attend a Group Fitness Class with your bestie. We can’t think of a better place to hang out with a friend AND beat the winter chill than with like-minded people.
3) Track your results
Crushing your goals is incredibly inspiring, so we recommend tracking your results. It may be as simple as wanting to get back into your favourite pair of jeans or achieving a new weight PB. Another good way to keep motivated is to share your goal with someone to stay accountable. Last but not least, don’t forget to give yourself a pat on the back when you achieve your goals and cut yourself slack if you don’t. There’s always next time, and winter isn't going anywhere (just yet).
4) Reach out
Staying motivated doesn't have to be a solo effort, so we recommend reaching out if you need extra support. Our friendly team members are only a question away and would love to share their top tips to stay motivated. Whether that be packing your gym bag the night before a morning session or where the warmest place in the club is. We strongly encourage you to lean on our team and other members if you need support.
We hope you're feeling motivated to set a routine, give your bestie a buzz and get your sweat on this winter. We’ll see you soon.
