The Benefits of Cardio for Your Workout Routine

Date: Apr 04, 2019

We all see the people in the gym that never seem to even wander over towards the cardio machines, let alone actually hop on one and start training. They would rather focus on strength training day after day. And while there is nothing wrong with wanting to gain muscle, everyone needs a bit of cardio in their workout routine.

Increased Lung Capacity

Do you sometimes find yourself out of breath just climbing a short flight of stairs? This does not have to do with old age. You just aren’t getting enough cardio exercise into your life. Cardio can increase your lung capacity over time so you will be able to do much more not just in the gym, but in your daily life, too. If you seem never to be able to catch your breath, start off slow with cardio and in no time you will be breathing much easier.

Makes Your Heart Stronger

A strong heart will help you lead and long and healthy life. One way to make it stronger is to get a bit of cardio done every day. This will enable your heart to not have to work quite so hard to pump blood through your body. For athletes and people that exercise regularly, a heart rate of under 60 beats per minute is normal and even healthy. If you find your resting heart rate to be more than this, now you have something to shoot for.

Better Than Having to Take Medication

Cardio has shown the ability to reduce high cholesterol, lower high blood pressure, combat diabetes, and limit your chances at some forms of cancer. Instead of relying on prescription meds for the rest of your life, you can simply get some cardio in a few times a week and this could take care of the problem.
