What is the difference between a successful lifter and someone who is struggling?
While there are certain people that are naturally gifted, they are the exception, rather than the rule. More commonly successful lifters just engage in a few simple habits that any one of us could also follow, and see more success in our training.
Here, we will look at four of these habits that successful lifters do, and why they are so beneficial.
·Follow a properly designed training program – A good training program will take a lifter through a progression that ensures you are always moving forwards and making progress in your training.
Doing the same thing repeatedly without progression, or just randomly doing things in the gym are never going to bring the same success that a well-designed program will offer.
·Are very consistent – The consistency of turning up and putting in the work, come rain or shine, is what separates the most successful lifters.
They know that training is a lifelong endeavour, and they’re committed to consistently doing the right things, over extended periods of time. When you do this; how can you not succeed?
·Practise deep focus – Just getting to the gym is only the beginning. You also need to make the most of your time in the gym. That means a deep focus on the task at hand.
Leave your phone in the locker, get in the zone, and be fully present and focused on your workout.
·Look after their body – Successful lifters know that their body needs to be looked after. It will be no use if they’re injured.
That means eating to nourish your body, getting plenty of sleep and rest, stretching, doing massage, and other recovery techniques to keep the body healthy.
