4 rules for sustainable weight loss

Date: Oct 10, 2018    By: Genesis Fitness

While numerous people attempt dieting, very few stick with it after a few weeks. If you belong to a gym, just think of how packed it is at the beginning of the year after everyone made losing weight their New Year’s resolution. But come February, it is much less crowded as most have abandoned their quest already. Listed below are four rules to maintaining steady weight loss.

1. Remove Temptations

It is tough to lose weight when your pantry and fridge are stocked with unhealthy foods. Replace everything unhealthy with a healthy alternative; cans of tuna, lean meats, fish and water should be a staple of your diet.

2. Eat Like a Caveman

The reason more people are obese than ever before is partly due to overly processed foods. These foods contain very little nutrients, but are packed with calories, sugar and carbs. This is a deadly combination that will make weight loss nearly impossible if you don’t avoid it. By eating whole foods, you will be skipping the dangerous aisles at the supermarket that will leave you overweight.

3. Have an Exercise Program in Place

You will be able to burn many more calories by combining a healthy diet with a solid workout routine than just going solely with one or the other. Exercise will ramp up your metabolism and turn your body into a fat burning furnace.

4. Partner Up

It is tough to go on a weight loss journey all alone. Adventures are always better with a buddy. Ask someone else to join you on your quest to lose weight. It could be someone that also needs to lose weight, or an individual that you trust can lead you to better health through their own experiences and motivation. You might be able to let yourself down, but it is much more difficult to let a friend down. Include a friend or two that will hold you accountable.
