"Starting a health routine is one thing but sticking with it throughout the course of your life is actually what people struggle with the most," Anna Verhees, who has been a fitness instructor with Genesis Health + Fitness for 25 years, tells 9Honey.
"We all know what we should be doing – but sometimes things happen, life gets in the way and our motivation waivers.
"I've taught more than 27,000 classes. I've seen all the stumbling blocks that get thrown in people's way, from illness to family commitments, money problems, mental health struggles and more.
"I've also seen some very inspiring things – people in their 80s and 90s who still show up to the gym every week and people who have kept exercising through their cancer treatment.
"We all know how important our health is and that ultimately, looking after ourselves means we can have a longer and more enjoyable life! Make your health a priority – but not a burden – and try your best to keep at it and not let life get in the way."
